A fence defines the boundary of a property. A well-made gate makes a statement about the people on the other side of it. GOPELIA Metalworks fabricates custom aluminum fences, steel driveway gates, pool enclosures, and security fencing for residential and commercial properties across Miami-Dade and Broward.
Aluminum is the material of choice for residential fencing in coastal South Florida — it doesn't rust, doesn't require painting, and holds its powder coat finish through years of salt air and UV exposure without the maintenance that painted steel demands. We fabricate custom aluminum fence panels from extruded aluminum pickets, rails, and posts, sized and configured to the property's specific requirements. Picket profile, spacing, height, and post design are all customizable — we don't offer off-the-shelf panel systems. Every aluminum fence we produce is engineered with post embedment depths and base plate sizes appropriate for Miami-Dade's soil conditions and wind exposure. Our work on North Bay Road and Bayshore Drive demonstrates what custom aluminum fencing looks like when the proportions and finishes are dialed in correctly for a luxury waterfront property.
A custom steel driveway gate is both a security measure and an architectural statement. We fabricate swing and slide gates in steel tube and flat bar, ranging from clean-lined contemporary designs to more traditional ornamental profiles, sized for the specific driveway opening and configured for the automation system the client is using. Steel gates benefit from heavy-duty continuous hinges or weld-on hinge plates properly sized for the gate's weight — an area where we see a lot of failures in cheaper fabrication. We design hinge assemblies for the actual gate weight and calculate the post embedment required to resist the moment imposed by a heavy swing gate without post lean over time. Prime paint, epoxy primer, and powder coat finish are standard; galvanizing is available for maximum corrosion protection on waterfront properties.
Pool barriers in Florida are governed by Florida Building Code Section 454, which sets specific requirements for fence height, picket spacing, self-latching gate hardware, and gate swing direction. These requirements exist for child safety, and they're enforced at inspection — a non-compliant pool fence means a failed inspection and a callback. We design and fabricate all pool fence systems to meet FBC 454 requirements as a baseline, including specifying self-closing, self-latching gate hinges that meet the code's specific requirements. For pools on waterfront properties or with exposed elevations, we also factor in the structural requirements for wind load resistance on fence panels, which can exceed what the basic code dimensions imply when wind pressures are accounted for.
Commercial and institutional fence and gate installations serve a different set of requirements than residential — higher load demands, heavier-duty hardware, automation integration, and sometimes anti-ram or anti-climb considerations. We fabricate cantilever slide gates, dual-swing security gates, and perimeter fence panels for commercial properties, parking facilities, and industrial sites throughout Miami-Dade and Broward. Commercial gate frames are sized for the operator's torque specifications, with wheel assemblies or roller carriages appropriate for the gate weight and track length. We coordinate with automation and access control contractors to ensure the gate geometry and electrical conduit provisions match what's needed for the full system to function correctly.
For properties where fencing is as much about aesthetics as security — estate perimeters, courtyard enclosures, hotel entries — decorative metalwork adds a level of craft that powder-coated aluminum panel systems can't replicate. We design and fabricate decorative fence panels with custom picket profiles, scrollwork, finials, and panel inserts in steel or aluminum. Each piece is TIG-welded for clean, finish-quality joints, and the completed panels are powder coated to the specified color. Decorative fence installations on Bayshore Drive and North Bay Road are representative of the level of detail we bring to this type of work — properties where the fence is expected to stand alongside architecture of genuine quality.
Custom fence and gate fabrication starts with accurate site measurement. We measure every property before producing shop drawings — accounting for grade changes, existing post conditions, gate opening widths, and any site-specific constraints that affect panel sizing or post layout. This measured approach eliminates the field fitment problems that arise when fence panels are fabricated to nominal dimensions and the site doesn't cooperate.
The South Florida environment is demanding on exterior metal finishes. Salt air, extreme UV exposure, and heavy rainfall accelerate corrosion and coating failure on fence systems that aren't finished appropriately for the conditions. We specify and apply finishes based on each project's proximity to the coast and sun exposure: PVDF powder coating for maximum UV resistance and color retention on premium projects, epoxy primer with standard powder coat for inland applications, and hot-dip galvanizing for steel components where maximum long-term corrosion protection is required. The result is a fence that looks as good in five years as it did on installation day.
We work primarily in aluminum and steel. Aluminum is the preferred choice for most South Florida residential fence applications because it's inherently corrosion-resistant in coastal salt-air environments and doesn't require painting to maintain its finish. Steel is chosen where maximum security, heavy-duty hinge loads, or a specific visual weight is required. Both materials can be powder coated in a full range of colors.
Yes. Pool barriers in Florida must comply with Florida Building Code Section 454, which governs fence height (minimum 48 inches), picket spacing (maximum 4 inches on grade side), self-closing and self-latching gate hardware, and other requirements specific to pool enclosures. All pool fence systems we fabricate are designed to meet these provisions. We include self-latching gate hardware and specify post depths appropriate for the soil conditions and fence height.
We fabricate gates for both manual and automated operation. For automated driveway gates, we design and reinforce the gate frame for the specific operator type — swing arm, underground hydraulic, or slide operator — and coordinate the gate weight and geometry with the automation contractor's requirements. We work with clients' preferred automation vendors or can recommend operators that have worked well on similar Miami-Dade projects.
We serve residential and commercial clients throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Completed fence and gate projects include custom installations on North Bay Road and Bayshore Drive — two of Miami Beach's most prestigious residential corridors. We also regularly work in Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, Brickell, Bal Harbour, Key Biscayne, and Hialeah.
